I am Stephen
Craven, a Ph.D. student in the
Configurable Computing Lab at Virginia Tech. Prior to joining
the
lab, I was employed with
Agere Systems at the StarCore
Joint Design
Center, now spun off as a separate company.
While working as an ASIC designer was very rewarding, academia has
always held an attraction and I have returned
to graduate school, choosing Virginia Tech because of its strength in
Configurable Computing and the quiet serenity of
Blacksburg.
I enjoyed my undergraduate experience at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
due, in part, to the smaller classes and greater faculty interaction
afforded by a smaller engineering school. After receiving my
Bachelor's degree, I attended Georgia Tech, receiving my Master's
degree in 2000. Entering the job market at the height of the tech
bubble, I managed to stay employed for almost two years before the
design center where I worked was closed. My Ph.D. research focuses on the design of dynamically reconfigurable hardware. A copy of my Ph.D. Preliminary Exam is available online. |
